Buyer Charter

numanknows works for the buyer. Almost everyone else in a small business acquisition is paid to get a deal closed, at a higher price, or both. We want you to be able to trust that our analysis isn't one of them, including after we start earning money from advertising.

This charter lists the rules we hold ourselves to. It is part of our Terms of Service, so these are commitments you can hold us to, not marketing copy.

numanknows has no advertisers today. When we introduce sponsored placements, such as professionals you can hire listed in a directory or next to a deal, they will follow every rule below.

1. Ads never touch the analysis

Scores, scorecards, fit checks, deal memos, deal chat, search and match rankings, and any other analysis we produce never take into account who advertises with us or how much they pay. We do not send advertiser or placement data to the AI models that generate analysis, and it is not an input to any score or ranking. An automated check runs on every proposed change to our code and flags any change that would let advertiser data reach them.

2. Only buyer-side advertisers

The only advertisers we accept are professionals a buyer hires and pays directly: attorneys, CPAs, quality-of-earnings providers, SBA lenders, insurance providers, and escrow providers. We do not accept advertising from sellers or sell-side business brokers, and we do not sell promoted or featured placement for business listings.

3. Always labeled

Every sponsored placement is clearly marked as sponsored. Sponsored placements appear beside the regular results, never in place of them, and regular results are ordered by fit for you, not by who pays.

4. Flat fees, never per closed deal

Advertisers pay a flat fee to be listed. We never take a fee, commission, or share of any transaction, loan, or engagement that results from a placement, so neither we nor any advertiser earns more by pushing your deal to close.

5. Your data is shared only when you click Contact

We never sell your information to advertisers or share it with them in bulk. An advertiser receives your contact details only when you choose to contact that advertiser. See our Privacy Policy for everything else we collect and who we share it with.

6. Reviews stay up

Buyer reviews of advertisers are published whether they are positive or negative, and advertisers cannot pay to remove or hide them. We remove reviews only when they violate our Acceptable Use Policy. Advertisers with a pattern of poor reviews lose their placement.

Changes to this charter

We may add commitments to this charter at any time. We will not weaken or remove a commitment without giving at least 30 days' notice, as described in the Terms of Service, and any such change applies only after that notice period ends.
